These delicious, pull apart finger food appetizers are so incredibly super easy to make and are the perfect appetizers for the holiday season.

I absolutely love the way pinwheels look on a serving plate. You can add whatever you like to pinwheels. That is one of the facts I just love about them.

You can add diced vegetables, meats and even sweets too. For this recipe, we are using spinach, artichoke and ricotta cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 8oz Tube of crossaint dough
  • 1 1/2 cup Finely chopped spinach I used frozen
  • 3 Medium artichoke hearts I used canned
  • 1/2 cup Ricotta cheese
  • 2 tbsp Parmasean cheese
  • Salt, pepper, garlic salt, basil, paprika All to taste
  • Optional: Grape tomatoes for the tree ornaments

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375F and line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Finely chop the spinach and artichoke hearts.
  • In medium bowl, add spinach, artichoke hearts, ricotta cheese, and spices. Mix all together. Set aside.
  • Roll out croissant dough out. Get a rolling pin and roll dough out evenly. You can pinch the seams to make sure dough stays together. This will help when you start rolling it.
  • Spread the bowl mixture evenly on the dough sheet.
  • Gently roll up the dough sheet starting from one end to the other end. (If you roll lengthwise, you can have more servings.)
  • Very carefully, cut the roll to 1/2 inch -3/4inch slices. (Tip: After each cut, spin the roll a little bit again so that your roll wont start to flatten and maintains its shape)
  • Arrange the slices in the form of a Christmas tree on your parchment paper and bake for 25 minutes or until well done. (Optional is sliced grape tomatoes)
  • Sprinkle some parmesan cheese and enjoy!

As mentioned in the recipe, sometimes when you slice dough, the knife flattens the pinwheel.

A trick I do is to spin the pinwheel just a little bit just after each cut. This helps the pinwheel retain its shape and maintain the roundness and not flatten out while being cut.

Happy Baking! 🙂
