Ingredients

  • 1 cup melting chocolate chips dark, milk, and/or white
  • 1 tbsp shortening I use Crisco
  • pretzel sticks
  • ziploc bag
  • microwave safe bowl

Instructions

  • In microwave safe bowl, add chocolate chips and shortening and microwave for 30 seconds. Take out of microwave and mix for about 30 seconds
  • Add in microwave for another 30 seconds, then take out of microwave and mix for an additional 30 seconds. As you mix, the chocolate will still be melting.
  • Microwaves vary, but if you still need to melt a bit more, do 15 seconds at a time and take out and mix. Be careful! You can burn the chocolate if you are impatient with mixing.
  • Pour melted chocolate in one corner of a sandwich bag ( I used Ziploc). Then on the other bottom corner of the bag, cut the tip of the end off. This will be your opening to pour the chocolate out.
  • Place a dollop of chocolate on wax or parchment paper. Then lay pretzel sticks in on dollop, this will make them stick together. Then, starting from center, swirl out overlapping to create web appearance.
  • Place in refrigerator and let cool until chocolate hardens. Enjoy!

Tips for Making Halloween Chocolate Pretzel Spiderwebs:

The thicker the chocolate spiderweb string, the better. Of course you do not want to make it too thick, but the thinner the chocolate string is, the more fragile it will be and the higher chance it will break when you pick it up.

Also, if you make an additional straight line on top of the spiderwebs, the chocolate will stay together better. The more chocolate “linked” together, the better chance it will stay when you lift it off the wax or parchment paper.
