The holidays are here so that means it’s time for coquito! Coquito is a Puerto Rican coconut eggnog holiday boozy drink that is essentially the Puerto Rican version of eggnog. It is made with a mix of coconut ingredients, rum and warm spices.
Two great friends of mine from the land of cocuito, aka Miami, introduced me to this drink years ago and I fell in love with it.
After drinking this several times, I finally asked them for their recipe. It is so incredibly easy and best of all, delicious!
What is Coquito?
Coquito translated means “little coconut”and this drink originated in Puerto Rico. It is a coconut based alcoholic beverage and is many times referred to as the Puerto Rican eggnog.
There are several variations based on location and family traditions. Although many different recipes have variations, the one thing that is constant is rum. 🙂
How Do I Make Coquito?
The recipe for this holiday drink is pretty easy. Keep in mind that sometimes the coconut fat thickens and you have to shake it up to drink it.
