The holiday season is a special time to make memories, especially with your little ones around. The holidays are a great time for picking out a Christmas tree, seeing lights, etc. . Memories that will last a lifetime have been made during this season. Here are some awesome, fun family Christmas traditions you can do with your family each year. 🎄
Christmas Tradition Checklist For Your Family
1. DIY Christmas Ornaments!
The first holiday tradition we incorporated was making a DIY keepsake ornament. With little children especially, these are priceless keepsake items. FYI, the perfect time to have a toddler participate is during nap time, lol.
2. Christmas Pajama Pictures.
Cheesy, awesome Christmas pajama pictures. You just can not go wrong, lol. These are always awesome. We found our adult ones at a local Wal Mart, but there are several companies that sell matching family Christmas pajama sets
3. Christmas cookies! 🍪
From snicker doodle to macadamia nut or white chocolate chip cookies. YUM! Who would say no to this freshly baked Christmas cookies?☺️
4. Christmas Movies & Cartoons
All day long. Yes,come on now, it’s only once a year! You can marathon ones like A Christmas Story, the classic clay animation of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, A Charley Brown Christmas, the classic of Miracle on 34th Street and a whole bunch more.
5. Salt Dough Ornaments
There are several different recipes on Pinterest, and each one was different. Tip: DON’T BAKE IT. These came out like a puffy tortilla! Lol. Patience is best.
6. Christmas Lights Drive!
Hop in your car, and look at all the festive holiday lights! This is one Christmas tradition I personally remember doing when I was younger.
7. Advent Calendars
These are fun! You can get them online or at the retail stores, but it is a good little treat for a holiday-day! Just a little something to look forward to that makes the days a little sweeter.
8. Decorate the bedroom doors!
Yes, the bedrooms. Get the tinsel, the cardboard and the tape.
9. Make homemade Christmas cards.
For nursing homes, teachers, fire departments, anyone you wish to.
10. Ugly Christmas Sweater party!
Because even as a party of two, its still some great pictures.

11. Cut your own Christmas tree.
If you can’t go to a Christmas tree farm, get a real one.
12. Visit a live nativity.
Local churches have them going on. (Note: Due to covid, you may want to save this for a later time.)
13. Take a family picture in front of the Christmas tree.
and see the changes over time.
14. Listen to Christmas music in the home.
Crank it up and get jolly!

15. Make a Gingerbread House!
Come on, this one is just a classic.
16. Write letters to Santa.
Awe, this one is just cute.
17. Have a family slumber party in the living room.
And take lots of pictures!
18. Family Game Night.
Pictionary, Guess Who, Monopoly…you get it.
19. Christmas Hot Chocolate drinking!
Have you seen those hot chocolate balls they are making this year? So cool.
20. Buy or make a Christmas tree ornament for that year.
We have been doing these since 2016. We love it.
