Lately, I have been wanting to switch things up a bit and try new dishes in our home. I I have a vegetarian friend who makes a dish similar to this and took inspiration and created my own! To my surprise, this meaty, cheesy stuffed shells dish was really easy to make! A lot easier than I thought and the entire family, including a picky almost 2 year old had seconds, which in my home equals success. So here you go! Easy Meaty Cheesy Stuffed Shells. Idea courtesy of this food blogger.

Easy Meaty Cheesy Stuffed Shells
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 24 oz cans of pasta sauce
- 2-3 whole diced fresh mushrooms
- 1/3 cup frozen spinach
- 3-4 whole minced garlic clove
- 1 half diced shallot
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 box jumbo shells
- Spices (added to taste): Salt, pepper, onion powder, paprika, oregano, basil, dash of Worcester sauce.
Instructions
- Heat pan on med/med high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil, diced garlic and shallot in pan. Brown garlic and shallot until fragrant and translucent.
- Add ground beef to pan and brown. Add frozen spinach, mushrooms and spices to taste. Drain excess oil. Set aside once browned.
- In separate pot, boil large pasta shells al dente. (Not all the way cooked, will need to be a little under cooked or they will fall apart) cooking time for us was 10min, check pasta when cooking as to not go over. Once al dente, drain water and set aside.
- Add one can of pasta sauce to 9×13 casserole dish.
- Fill pasta shells with browned meat. Place cheese on top of shells. We used Oaxaca cheese, but you can use mozzarella or any other cheese you prefer.
- Place in oven covered at 375 degrees for 25 minutes. Uncover and place back in oven for another 15 minutes.
I hope you enjoyed this Easy Meaty Cheesy Stuffed Shells recipe! It was actually fun to make. If you have little kids who like to cook, stuffing the shells was the best part! If you are a vegetarian, you can also skip the meat and use spinach, mushrooms and cheese instead. Bon appetit!

It is! The hardest part is stuffing the shells, but that’s pretty easy too. 😉
These look so good! I am seriously drooling over them. My mother in law makes stuffed shells at Easter and I can’t wait.
These look delicious. Adding this to my recipes.
