Cheek fillers are gaining in popularity these days, and many celebrities and people that want a little volume in their cheeks opt in for fillers. I was noticing that I was starting to have diminished volume in my mid face area, so I decided to research my options.
What Are Cheek Fillers?
Cheek fillers are injections that raise the volume of the area above and around your cheekbones. This provides the illusion of a more defined bone structure. By injecting volume under your skin layer, cheek fillers can also smooth out wrinkles and fine lines.
Reasons People Get Cheek Filler
- Lost Volume Due To Age. This is when you begin to notice that your cheeks begin to deflate or are under projected.
- Pronounced Nasolabial Fold. These are the smile lines or those parenthesis like lines that go from the nose to the mouth.
- Cosmetic Enhancement. Self explanatory, really.
My personal reason was #1. Thank you, mother nature, lol.
Most Common Types of Fillers
The most common types of fillers are Restylane Lyft & Juvederm Voluma, Radiesse, Sculptura, and Belafill.
My Experience With Cheek Fillers
Before I go on any further, I want to HIGHLY advise that you research your injector. Make sure you like their work, make sure they are skilled in their field and make sure that you ask way too many questions. This is your face we are talking about here, so it is pretty important.
I had asked for several months about cheek filler. I was interested, but I didn’t make the leap. After I was comfortable enough to make the commitment, I was finally ready (and super pleased with the results!).
So first they clean and numb the area. Next, she marked my face to pinpoint exactly where I needed it. Let me say, I did go against her recommendation of 2 syringes and I went with 1 for the meantime to get a more gradual fill.

Once it was time for the needle, I was a little nervous but ready. If you have ever had Botox, the needle feels a little bigger. The procedure is different too. With Botox, it is more of a quick little prick. With cheek fillers, its almost like a shot, and then another one and another one. When she was done with one side, she let me look at the progress…
It was amazing! She filled in what I had lost. I felt so much better immediately. I do still have a little bit left to do, but overall I am extremely pleased and as usual, she hit a home run.
How Long Does Cheek Filler Last?
The average time can be between six months to two years. Ask your doctor or injector for specifics, but that is the general consensus.
What Are The Side Effects of Cheek Filler?
Common side effects are swelling, bruising and itching. Other less common side effects could be filler leakage, injury to your veins or arteries or vision loss.
** I visited Aurora Med Spa in Georgetown, TX and my injector was Kandice. Highly recommend if you are in the area! Tell them I sent you. 😉 (This post is NOT sponsored.)
