My microneedling experience and everything discussed is my own personal experience. This is not a sponsored post and I am not a doctor.
This new year I wanted to take better care of my skin. I had issues with fine lines, larger pores and uneven skin. I knew I wanted something with a little more oomph to get results, but I didn’t exactly know what. I knew from researching that this procedure was an option, along with other types of facials. Before I go on if you are not familiar with microneedling, I will explain briefly what this is.
What Is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment used to boost collagen, improve the look of scars, reduce the appearance of pores, and fine lines and wrinkles. This procedure uses small needles to prick the skin. The purpose of this treatment is to generate new collagen for a smoother and firmer appearance. It requires no downtime and is generally safe.
However, it is NOT safe for people who are on certain acne medications or for women who are pregnant.

Ok, now that the definitions are out of the way, lets talk about my experience.
My Microneedling Treatment
I knew I wanted a procedure done, but I really didnt know exactly what. I went to Aurora Med Spa (more about them later) after having another procedure done. There I really got to talk and voice my concerns over everything; fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, skin losing its elasticity, pretty much everything you notice when you start aging. I was told that microneedling was the way to go. I had heard of the procedure before, but didn’t really fully know what to expect.
What To Expect From Microneedling
You will most likely be laid down for this procedure. Before gettting started, a numbing cream will be put on your face for about a half hour. The procedure involves a pen like instrument to make needle pricks under the skin. Yes, it can be uncomfortable. The nose and jawline were the hardest for me, but it didn’t last long. It sounds like a sandblaster or a lawnmower, and hopefully you will have someone who can make you feel comfortable during all of this, especially if it is your first time. To me, that made all the difference. The entire procedure lasted only about thirty minutes. After the treatment, they may apply some sort of serum or cream on your face like they did with me.
After The Microneedling Procedure
After the procedure is done, you will most likely be RED! Especially if you have fair skin. I was crayola red, fire engine red, tomato red. Get the picture? Lol. In case you don’t, there is a picture below, lol. I swelled up for the first couple days and my entire face peeled. It is super important that you take care of your skin during this sensitive state. My husband said it reminded him of tattooing your face, except with way better results, lol!
The entire healing for me took about a week. My face was swollen, I was red and it felt as if I had a sunburn. After the peeling at day 3 is when I personally started to see a change. The fine lines around my face severely diminished and some were just flat out gone. I had not seen my pores that small in a long time. The texture of my skin looked overall smoother. It was like if I did some skin resurfacing on myself.
Is Microneedling Worth It?
If you were to ask me if it is worth it, I would 100% say YES. Let me say this though, microneedling is not for the faint of heart. There are little needles pricking your face. It is going to be uncomfortable for 30 minutes. You might swell, turn red, peel and want to just lay low for about a week if you can.
Personally, I see a big difference, and that difference I see makes it totally worth it. I know that with multiple sessions you will see better results, but my husband and friends have commented on my skin without me asking after the first session. That in itself is worth it for me. I am my worst critic and I had seen all my results, but when others in your life notice, it feels really good.
Am I going to do this again? YES. Si. Yuppers. You betcha!
In the Austin Area?
So I had my treatment at Aurora Medical Spa in Georgetown, Tx. My procedure was done Kandice Crow. I cannot recommend her enough! She made me feel comfortable, was knowledgeable and always made me feel special. I really enjoyed my treatment there, the staff was friendly and the place looked clean and neat. Highly recommend them! You can call them and book your appointment at 512-359-8349. You can also follow them on Instagram here and their Facebook here.
